Snowdonia
The National park bosts breathtaking beauty and fantastic scenery and has the highest mountains in England and Wales. Renowned as one of Britain's most beautiful National Parks, it is fringed with a coastline designated a Heritage Coast and is part of on area designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Today’s mountains and coast has evolved from a rich tapestry of history, culture and landscape that dates back to prehistoric, pagan times followed by the Roman occupation, the rise of Christianity, the age of the Mediaeval Princes, the Viking, Anglo Saxon and Norman invasions through to the industrial revolution and modern times.Evidence of these historical eras can still be seen in the dramatic landscapes of the mountains
Visit the picturesque surroundings of Dolgellau, Porthmadog, Beddgelert and Llanberis to find that ideal gift for family and friends or just relax by the quiet street corner sipping Welsh tea and tasting 'Bara Brith' (famous Welsh cake).
This is a land of castles - Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech, built by Edward I, are amongst the best preserved mediaeval fortresses in Britain - and World Heritage Sites
The magnificent coastline is home to numerous blue flag beaches to suite all tastes. If you're looking to spend the day on the beach or just a stroll the ideal beach is only a short distance away. Along the Cardigan Bay you have Aberdyfi, Barmouth, Tywyn, Harlech and all around the Llyn you have beaches along the coast from Pwllheli to Aberdaron and Nefyn.
Mt Snowdon
Mountains of the Snowdon group lie within a triangle of roads linking Caernarfon, Pen y Gwryd and Beddgelert. Regular bus routes from Caernarfon extend only as far as Nant Peris and Beddgelert. However, in summer the Sherpa bus service completes the circuit around the mountain by linking Beddgelert and Nant Peris via Pen y Gwryd. This service is extremely useful, even to car owners, because it facilitates unusual combinations of ascent and descent routes.
