Venture down a leafy country lane & over an ancient stone bridge to find Penyrallt Fach Cottage, a former Victorian piggery, on a secluded organic dairy farm overlooking the lovely Teifi Valley of Carmarthenshire & only 30 minutes from the lovely beaches of Cardigan Bay.

With its wood-burning stove and exposed beams, wood ceilings & floors the cottage is very cosy and has great character. Much of the furniture has been made by the owners using timber harvested from the woods on the farm.

The well-equipped open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room has a farmhouse table with seating for 4, a comfortable sofa and two easy chairs in which to relax by the wood-burner after days spent on the beach or walking in the hills. There is a large selection of books, dvds, board games and a digital radio with iPod dock,  tv & dvd. player.

On arrival guests will find a complimentary welcome basket of organic items, a home-baked cake & fresh flowers from the garden on the table.

The two bedrooms, a double & a twin, are simply and attractively furnished. The beds are supplied with duvets & lovely locally woven Welsh wool blankets.

The bathroom is simple & functional with a bath (complete with yellow rubber ducks!) with hand-held shower, lavatory and wash-basin. The washing-machine is also in the bathroom and a heated towel-rail.

All fuel, electricity, bedlinen & towels are included in the price

The water supply comes from pure natural springs that rise on the farm.

The farm is a fully organic, working, traditional family farm certificated with the Soil Association & a member of the Soil Association Open Farm Network.
Visitors are welcome to see all aspects of the farm with its herd of rare Traditional Hereford cattle and Ayrshire dairy cows, and may request a guided tour of the farm , free of charge, over
the 140 acres of pasture and woodland, in the company of the farmer.

Local area

Situated as it is near the boundaries of the three
counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion & Pembrokeshire, the farm provides a perfect base from which to discover the glories of the ancient kingdom of Dyfed.

The attractive small towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn, Lampeter & Narberth are worth visiting with their diverse range of shops, eating places & galleries & studios of local artists & craftspeople.

Cardigan Bay with its superb beaches, is designated a Special Area of Conservation. The Bay supports a population of some 130 bottlenose dolphins, and porpoises as well as grey seals are frequently seen close to shore. The area is also part of the Ceredigion Heritage Coast of Cardigan Bay.

There are many old churches, superb castles and countless sites of pre-historic and historic interest, including the tiny cathedral city of St David's, the historic gardens of Aberglasney & the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

It is a fine area for walking and bird-watching. The Pembrokeshire & Ceredigion Coastal Paths are only half an hour away & the Berwyn & Cambrian Mountains are within easy reach for good walking in the hills.
