Local area
Come to stay in South Wales for the beautiful scenery, peace and tranquillity then discover all the other attractions the Gower has to offer.

Riverside is in an iconic beauty spot near secluded beaches, good country walks, National Trust nature reserves and surfing beaches. Gower was Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the unspoilt, near empty, Whitford Burrows, a National Trust Conservation Area, is a short walk away. Here rare birds and plants can be seen. This special corner of Gower, where fresh and sea water marshes meet, provides a unique habitat for flora and fauna, including the wild ponies which graze here. Kingfishers, herons, barn owls, woodpeckers and bats are often seen in the garden. Sheep and wild horses roam the hills and roads around Llanmadoc and Cheriton.

Many of the local pubs and restaurants serve excellent food, including the award winning Fairy Hill Country House Hotel, 3 miles away and the award winning Maes-yr-Haf at Three Cliffs. The Brittania Inn, within walking distance of Riverside, has magnificent views over the Loughor Estuary. In the picturesque village of Llanmadoc this beautiful 18th Century pub, with its original fireplaces, bread oven and roof beams, offers a wide choice of excellent menus for lunch, dinner and snacks.

Llangennith, 3 miles away, has one of Britain's best surfing beaches. Less than 15 minutes from the City of Swansea, the Gower Peninsula is home to around 50 unspoilt beaches, coves and bays. Swansea Bay alone has 4 Green Coast Awards and 5 Blue Flags!

Gower beaches are routinely awarded the coveted Blue Flag, Rural Seaside and Green Coast awards, recognising their quality, cleanliness and services. Consult the Gower Good Beach Guide for full details of beach awards and facilities.

Amongst the best are Rhossili, which offers wide open space, the tiny secluded Pwll Du and Penclawdd which boasts wild ponies and cockle-beds. Three Cliffs Bay is Britain's best camping beach.

Activities during holidays in Gower include walking, bird watching, pony trekking, surfing, windsurfing, fishing, cycling, and skateboarding.
